Administrative Complex Greika
STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING
To preserve the building from total decay the core was partly removed in in the last years. Roof and ceilings have been partly refurbished, whereas the main construction of the roofs and ceilings, the wooden beams and timber ceiling remained unchanged. The building contains two staircases with separate stair cases to the first floor. A third new staircase was constructed in the center of the building. So a staircase can be reached for escape within a maximum of 35m distance from each room.
The concrete columns on ground floor and in the upper floors have been covered with ferroconcrete. The steel columns in the lower roof level as well as the roof beams have been upgraded with a fire-resistant construction and are now in compliance with fire protection regulations.
The proof of stability of the wooden beams in the unused upper roof level has been achieved.
The new staircase was built as a steel structure, with the supporting main parts being constructed in accordance with fire regulations of the Thuringian building regulations.
