STRUCTUAL ENGINEERING

Obtaining the listed outer shell of the whole building complex, while providing a maximum of flexibility in the interior room, that was the challenge for our structural engineers and designers. This is achieved by cautious and cost-efficient substitution of partly worn out bearing structures for reinforced concrete constructions. An additional aspect, that has to be considered, is choice and use of fireproof materials and constructions applicable to modern museums. A distinctive feature to increase bearing capacity of existing wooden beam slabs, is a wood- concrete- composite construction we selected. Thereby, existing wooden beam slabs were pegged with a new concrete-slab. This distributes compressive respectively tractive force in each of the appropriate structural component.
